
STANDING COMMITTEES
Membership: To obtain, retain and increase the membership of the Post with specific responsibilities for renewals, enrollment of new members, transfers and reinstatements.
Chairman: George Campbell Members: George Sweet and all officers of the Post.
Public Relations: To increase awareness among the veterans community and the community at large of the American Legion's advocacy of veterans issues, national security and foreign relations, Americanism, and children and youth. Your goal is to define the American Legion by placing radio and television advertisements and public service announcements produced by the National Public Relations Division. Develop relationships with editord and journalists serving the Post community so that they cover those programs supported by the American Legion
Chairman: Haskel Austin Members: John Kennedy, Bruce Jorgensen and George Lucero.
Finance and Audit: To supervise the receiving, disbursement and accountuing of all post funds; prepare Annual Budget recommendations for the Post; to advise the Post on all financial policies.
Chairman: Truman White Members Al Kraus and Tom Drury
Legislative: To promate the official legislative mandates of the American Legion; dissimilate legislative updates; maintain and promote proactive lobbying activities; establish and maintain liason with elected officials and their staff. Voter education is a critical element in the electoral process. Within the non-political guidelines of the American Legion you may hold town hall meetings. "Meet the Candidate Night" or allow candidates to address Post meetings as long as all candidates are extended the same privilege.

Economic: To serve and assist veterans in meeting and overcoming economic problems such as employment, veterans preference, civil service appeals, employment of handicaped and older workers.

House Committee: To supervise the operation of physical facilities of the Post. Supervision includes administration. Responsibility for equipment, hiring and direction of employees as authorized by the Post Executive Committee and general rules applicable to the conduct of members while on the premises of the Post.
Chairman: John Kennedy Members: Richard Weiss, Ed Litchfield, Marcos Palacios, Tom Thompson, Haskel Austin and Bruce Jorgensen.
Building Committee: To oversee the maintenance of the Post facility and remodeling and construction of new additions or equipment.
Chairman: Richard Weiss Membeers: Bruce Jorgensen, Tom Drury, John Kennedy, Tom Thompson and George Lucero.
Post Activities: To Create or maintain activities of the Post promoting the Comradship of the membership of the Post. To Work with the Childred and Youth Chairman in these activities promoting a Legion family orientation.

POW-MIA: To promote the awareness of our missing comrades who are not yet here among us and to support the families of the missing.
Chairman: Truman White Members: John Kennedy, Ken Williams and John McKeddie.
Sons of the American Legion: To act as a supevisory committee for the Sons of the American Legion Squadron in connection with its organization, activities and educational program. To act as a liason between the Squadron and the Post.

Graves Registration and Memorial Committee/Uniform Groups: To record, mark and decorate graves of deceased veterans; to provide American Legion funeral services when requested. To organize, train, promote and supervise a uniform group such as a drum and bugle corps, color guard of firing squad.
Chairman: Alex Alexanderson Members: All members of Post 49 Honor Guard.
ROTC and Scholarships: To represent the Post in our suport of ROTC activities and functions. To give advice to the Post on the selection of applicants for scholorships offered by the American Legion and make available to interested students in the "Need a Lift" booklets.
Chairman: Gerald Wickham Members: George Sweet and William Barker
Parliamentarian: To express an opionion on the point in question during an official meeting when requested to do so. Be well informed on parliamentary law and constitution and by-laws of the Post.
Parliamentarian: Haskel Austin
Judge Advocate: To provide advise in the conduct of the Post business or to procure counsel when needed. Be well informed on the Constitution and By-Laws of the Post and be able to give advice on the Constitution and By-Laws.

Service Officer: To provide assistance to veterans in the filing of claims for disability or for VA assistance. To assist veterans in obtaining decorations and medals through the various Armed Forces and Decoration Units. To be responsibile for bringing to the attention of all veterans and their families the rights and benefits granted them by law.

United Veterans Council: To act as liason between the United Veterans Council. To promote and support the issues pertaining to our veterans.

Welcome Committee: To welcome new members, guests and older members who are not well acquainted with the Post. Make themm feel at home and introduce them. Give them a history of the Post and its development. This list will be given to the bartenders so they can call on you if you happen to be in the Post.
